Siding Replacement That Protects and Transforms Your Home

Craftsmanship Backed by Real Reviews

Professional Siding Installation and Replacement

Your home’s siding does more than define its appearance. It is the primary barrier between your home’s structural framing and everything the weather throws at it. Siding that is cracked, warped, rotting, or failing lets moisture into the wall assembly where it can damage insulation, rot framing, and create conditions for mold growth that are expensive to remediate. JACK Contracting installs new siding systems that restore your home’s protection and give it a refreshed, lasting appearance at the same time.

We install vinyl, fiber cement, and engineered wood siding products in a variety of profiles including lap siding, board and batten, shake, and panel systems. Whether you are replacing aging or damaged siding on the full exterior or addressing a specific section, we handle the work with the same level of care and attention to detail on every job. Proper installation begins with correct surface preparation and moisture barrier installation, not just nailing new material over whatever is already there.

Choosing the Right Siding for Your Home

The most popular siding material in residential construction today is vinyl, and for good reason. It holds color well, requires minimal maintenance, resists moisture and insects, and is available in a wide range of profiles and colors. Fiber cement siding, most commonly known by the brand name James Hardie, offers superior impact resistance, fire resistance, and dimensional stability, and it can be painted to virtually any color to match your home’s design.

Engineered wood siding provides the appearance of real wood with improved moisture and impact resistance, making it a strong middle-ground option for homeowners who want a traditional look with fewer maintenance demands. JACK Contracting walks you through the material options in honest, practical terms so you can make a decision based on your budget, your home’s exposure conditions, and how much maintenance you are willing to take on over the years.

What Makes a Proper Siding Installation Last

The difference between a siding job that holds up for decades and one that starts to fail prematurely comes down to what happens before the first panel goes up. Proper housewrap or moisture barrier installation, careful flashing around all windows, doors, and penetrations, and correct overlap and fastening patterns are what make siding perform as designed over time. JACK Contracting follows manufacturer installation specifications on every job because that is what protects both the siding warranty and the structure beneath it.

We also evaluate the condition of the existing trim, corners, soffit, and fascia as part of every siding project. Replacing siding without addressing deteriorated trim or a failed soffit leaves the project incomplete and leaves your home vulnerable at the transitions. Our goal is always a finished product that looks professionally done and holds up to the real conditions your home faces season after season in Northern Virginia.

What Homeowners Ask About Siding Replacement

How do I know if I need new siding?
Signs that siding replacement may be needed include visible cracks, warping, or buckling; soft spots that indicate moisture has reached the sheathing behind the siding; faded or peeling paint that no longer protects the surface; visible rot at trim boards or corners; or a dramatic increase in heating and cooling costs that suggests the wall assembly is no longer insulating effectively. We can inspect your current siding and give you an honest assessment of its condition.
The timeline depends on the size of the home and the scope of the project. Most full exterior siding replacements on average-sized homes are completed in one to two weeks. Larger projects or those involving significant trim and soffit work may take longer. We provide a realistic schedule during the estimate process.
You do not need to be present throughout the installation, but we do ask that someone be available when work begins each day to address any questions that come up as we progress through the project.
New siding combined with fresh housewrap and properly installed insulated backing can improve thermal performance meaningfully, particularly on older homes where the original moisture barrier has degraded. The improvement varies based on the existing wall assembly and insulation, and we can discuss what to realistically expect for your specific home.
In some situations it is possible, but we generally do not recommend it. Installing over existing siding prevents proper evaluation of the sheathing beneath, can cause moisture problems if the existing material is holding water, and may result in an uneven finished surface. Removing the existing siding allows us to inspect and address whatever is underneath before starting fresh.
Manufacturer warranties vary by product and typically cover the material against fading, cracking, and other defects for extended periods. We back our installation work with a craftsmanship guarantee as well. We will walk you through all warranty specifics before work begins.
